Annie Small
Recruit Profile
Aggressive player with smart instincts - leader on and off the field. Determined, gritty, coachable athlete.
I have played midfield and have been taking the draw or been on the circle since I started playing in 3rd grade. As a high school freshman, in only eight games due to COVID, I led my varsity team in goals (38) and assists (19), as well as ground balls and caused turnovers and was named varsity offensive MVP. In the summer of 2020 I was selected to participate in the Under Armour All-America games on the Southwest Command team. In school, I was second in my middle school and currently have a 4.4 GPA. I am a member of National Charity League where I enjoy volunteering in the community.
From my club coach Alyssa Murray: Annie Small is one of the top 2023 players in Texas. She is a dynamic midfielder who also dominates on the draw and has progressed significantly year after year. In her sophomore year she will most definitely be marked up by the top defender of each team in Austin. She has been a top scorer for the Iron Horse 2023 team since itsinception and has only become more impactful each year in all aspects of the game.
From my high school coach: Annie Small is an exceptional and versatile lacrosse player. Whatever the team is missing on the field, Annie can fill in all roles from a shutdown defender, to a draw specialist, or an attacker from behind the crease. Annie works outside of practice on all aspects of her game to be a true, two way midfielder. She can do it all, not specializing to become a one trick player. Offensive sets can be designed around her to give her dodging lanes or to be a finisher inside the 8 meter. Immediately, Annie established herself as a player that would find her teammates in front of the goal, and not only as a scorer. Her stats from our shortened season (8 games), demonstrate her balanced game and how much she contributes on the field. As a sophomore, Annie has great vision on the field. She recognizes different scoring opportunities and sets her teammates into positions to help them be successful. She sees the scenarios unfolding on the field and can be heard directing her teammates to adjust to the fast break, the play, or defensive changes. She does a great job being a field general, trying to either slow down or speed up game.
