Ashlyn Watkins
Recruit Profile
Freshman High School Lacrosse Captain and enthusiastically loyal teammate - Vocal, active goalie with quick hands and positive attitude - Determined, driven student and athlete - Lacrosse/Soccer/Basketball Varsity athlete
Positivity, teamwork, and leadership are the basis of a strong goalie and things I pride myself on and try to show every time I step on a field. Hardwork is something I want to be known for, I always want to achieve my goals, no matter how hard. Being the only goalie on my club and high school teams has made me learn how to keep myself motivated and always wanting to improve.
I really love my teammates and am inspired by my coaches to always be the best me I can be. I look forward to practices and spending time with my teammates. As one of the older goalies at my club, I love helping the younger goalies. I go to as many of their games as I can to give them encouragement and feedback.
I am an active goalie and help my team with interceptions, distributions, trail passes, and groundballs as much as saves. I am loud on the field, have quick hands, good footwork, and can quickly pick up on attacking styles. After an allowed goal I meet with my defense to talk about adjustments and also like to remake the save physically or mentally to fix an error I may have made. No matter the outcome of our games, I go home and review film, track my statistics and see how I can improve my game.
I have played lacrosse for 11 years and this fall 2019 starts my 6th year on club. I played club defender for my first year before my team needed another goalie, and I volunteered because I had a little experience in cage. My first year as goalie I played on the secondary team by the end of the season I was asked to help the top team. That following year I was placed on the top team and since then I've been on the top team by myself.
The college majors I am interested in are Criminal Justice, Criminology and Physical Education. I also play varsity soccer as a defender and varsity basketball as a post. I take all honors classes and varsity choir with a 3.778 weighted GPA. I am a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Girls Athletic Association. I have 128.5 service hours at the end of my freshman year mostly by helping teachers and assisting at sports clinics.
