Jeff Chase

Chase comes to Smithfield after helping guide Mercer to an NCAA tournament appearance in 2018, winning the inaugural Southern Conference Championship.

After upsetting top-seeded Detroit Mercy in the semis, his defense held third-seed Furman to just eight goals in the final to take the crown.

Overall, the Chase-led Bears defense held teams to single digits five times, including keeping league foes Wofford to five and Delaware State to two before shutting down the Furman offense in the SoCon title game.

Under Chase’s guidance, both Audrey Robertson and Michaela Lucas finished 1-2 in the league in caused turnovers, with Robertson finishing 22nd in the country in the category.

Chase is a 2016 graduate of Loyola University where he was a member of the 2012 NCAA National Championship team. The recipient of the Francis J. McManamin Unsung Hero team award, Chase was a member of four NCAA tournament teams as well as Patriot League Championship teams in 2014 and 2016.
