Jenny Simpson enters her first season as assistant on the Tribe’s coaching staff.

Simpson, a former standout player at the University of New Hampshire and a captain of the Senior England Women’s National Team, joins the Tribe staff after a successful tenure as an assistant with the U19 England National Team and as head coach at Caterham School in Surrey, England.

"I am really honored to join the William & Mary family and assist Colleen during her first season as head coach,” Simpson said. “Colleen’s vision for the program is extremely exciting and it is an incredible opportunity to be a part of it. William & Mary has so much to offer academically and athletically and I really look forward to getting started!"

As an assistant with the U19 England National Team, Simpson helped lead the squad to a fourth-place finish at the 2019 U19 World Championships.

Simpson also served as head coach at Caterham School from 2016-19 where she led the varsity team to a national semifinal appearance and four additional age groups to top-16 finishes at the 2019 UK National Schools Tournament. During her tenure, she mentored four players to the 2019 World Lacrosse U19 World Championships, while 13 of her players competed with Junior National Development Programs.

Simpson’s coaching experience also includes serving as head coach at the University of Surrey (2013-14) where she led the team to a Cup Championship and a Division promotion. She also served an assistant coach with the U18 Scotland World Cup Festival Team (2015) and as an assistant at Caterham School (2014-16).

In addition to her coaching experience, Simpson has been an attacker on the Senior England Women’s National Team since 2015 and a captain since 2018. The squad won the 2019 Women’s European Championships and was a bronze medalist at the 2017 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.

A four-year starter at the University of New Hampshire (2009-13), Simpson earned All-America East honors as a senior and served as a team captain. Additionally, she garnered America East Rookie Team distinction as a freshman and was named to the America East All-Academic Team three times.

A native of New Canaan, Conn., Simpson earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UNH in 2013.
