Kellen Lucchesi
Recruit Profile
A hardworking and communicative player. I hate losing more than I like to win. Coachable, will always step up to the challenge.
Consistency. Attitude. Work Ethic. Hustle. As an athlete and a student, I bring those to my game, my team, and my studies every day. Like all the best players, I want to be the first one on the field and the last one off. Even when we’re running sprints or walking through plays, I want to soak it all up to make myself the best player and best teammate I can be.
Coaches and teammates would agree that my attitude is infectious— in a good way! Even when things don’t go as practiced or planned, I want to focus on how we can improve, instead of trying to place blame. That’s the responsibility of being a leader and being on a team. Seeing the field, recognizing opportunities, and processing it all in real time comes with the job of being a goalie. But the most important part of the position is being a communicator, talking the defense through the play, and bringing the team together.
In the classroom, I carry a 4.2 GPA in the International Baccalaureate Program and will be taking the highest level of calculus, as well as French 4, and AP computer science in this coming school year. I’m also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. In my community, I volunteer with a local nonprofit called “Learn to Ride,” where I help teach kids how to ride a bike. I volunteer with the 24 Foundation, supporting cyclists during a 24-hour charity ride to raise money for cancer. I balance my commitments to academics, school, and community while also holding a part-time job.
I started playing lacrosse when I was 9 because my older brother played. When my team didn’t have a goalie, I stepped in and immediately knew I had found my opportunity and my place. I want to be the player my coaches and teammates can count on every time I take the field, and I put in the work to be ready every time my number is called. While I can’t expect to make every save and every play perfect, I never let it get the best of me. Even when I have a bad game, I focus on the little things in order to stay strong, not just for myself, but for my team.
