Mark Goldsmith

Mark Goldsmith is in his first season as an assistant with the Monarchs in 2018.

He played youth and high school lacrosse in Long Island, N.Y., and played at the collegiate level at Ohio Wesleyan University. In 1989, Coach Goldsmith moved to Greensboro, N.C. to become the Head Men’s Lacrosse and Soccer Coach at Guilford College.

While coaching at Guilford College, Goldsmith volunteered his time in the Phys. Ed. classes at Greensboro Day School, which led them to start the first high school lacrosse team in the area. In 1996, Coach Goldsmith started the first public school team in the Triad at Southeast Guilford High School, and subsequently worked with many other Triad area high schools to help start their lacrosse programs.

In 1996, Coach Goldsmith started the ONS (Old North State) Lacrosse organization, a year-round lacrosse program for youth and high school players.

He is the only coach to win state championships at 2 different schools in the history of N.C. high school lacrosse. He was inducted into the NC Chapter of US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2014.

In addition to coaching, he is also an NCAA D1, D2, D3 and MLL official, and a State Coaches Clinician. Goldsmith is also Founder and President of the ONS Lacrosse Foundation, a non-profit organization that hosts the annual Triad High School Senior All Star Games.
