Bayne has over 30 years of coaching experience has been named Coach of the Year twenty times.
North Greenville Athletic Director Jan McDonald has tabbed former Coach Michael Bayne as the chosen one to start the women's program at North Greenville University. This is the second program started by Bayne at NGU, as he was first head coach of the men's and women's track and field teams when the program was started a few years ago. Bayne has over 30 years of coaching experience has been named Coach of the Year twenty times, including six times in Track and Cross Country. His teams have won over 600 games. As the head mens basketball coach at Garrett Tech, his team set a Guinness World Record for 32 three point baskets made in a single game. Coach Baynes experience includes coaching at high schools in South Carolina, and colleges including Charleston Southern University, Denmark Technical College, and Brevard College. Adding to his resum, Bayne led NGU's track and field teams to top 10 rankings in the Southeast. He also headed the first cross country season in school history in which the men's team earned a top 10 ranking in the NCAA Southeast region. Michael Bayne also heads up the special teams for the North Greenville football team, adding to his responsibilities. I feel this is an exciting time to be at North Greenville University. I have watched this institution grow from being a junior college with less than 400 students to a NCAA division two school with over 2200 students. I feel blessed to have this opportunity. Bayne is a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. He and his wife Peggy have one daughter, Nicki.
