Paul Deon

Paul Deon enters his first season as an assistant coach at Connecticut College.

He will assist with all aspects of the program and also serve as the program's defensive coordinator this season.

Deon most recently served as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at the United States Coast Guard Academy, helping the program post a record of 28-8. Under Coach Deon's leadership as defensive coordinator, the 2018 Bears became one of top defenses in the nation, leading NEWMAC with 178 forced turnovers and registering a 6.5 goals against average which ranked seventh in all of Division III. During the 2019 season, the Bears defense once again led the NEWMAC conference with the fewest goals allowed and ranked second in caused turnovers. Coast Guard finished with consecutive 14-win seasons and advanced to the NEWMAC championship game twice in 2018 and 2019 with Deon on the sidelines. The success also placed the program in the NIKE top 20 poll six times during those two years.

Prior to arriving at Coast Guard, Deon spent four years as the varsity head coach at Daniel Hand High School in Madison Connecticut and turned that program into a lacrosse powerhouse. He led the Tigers to three consecutive trips to the Class M state championship game from 2015-2017 and four consecutive trips to the Class M semifinals from 2014-2017.

Before coaching at Daniel Hand, Coach Deon spent four years as the varsity head coach at Stonington (CT) High School. Prior to his tenure, the program had been winless in the state tournament. Under Deon's direction, Stonington advanced to the Class S Semifinals in 2010, 2011, and 2013, the Class S Quarterfinals in 2012, and made three consecutive small division conference championships from 2011-2013.

In 2006, Coach Deon began his high school coaching career as an assistant coach at East Lyme (CT) High School. During his four years on staff, the team reached four straight large division conference championships, three trips to the Class M quarterfinals and one Class M semifinal appearance.

Deon has had the honor of coaching four USILA collegiate All-Americans multiple collegiate all-conference players and numerous high school all-state and all-conference players to include two high school All-Americans and four Academic All-Americans. His players have gone on to play lacrosse at all collegiate levels as well as professionally.

As a varsity head coach, Deon holds a combined record 112-48.
