The American International College women's lacrosse team will be led by Riley Brennan '16/'17, who has been named the team's head coach, Director of Athletics Matthew Johnson announced on Monday, August 19.

"We are extremely excited to have Riley Brennan as our next head women's lacrosse coach," Johnson said. "She was the ideal student-athlete in terms of high achievement both athletically and academically while playing, and the totality of her experiences as both team captain and assistant coach, along with her passion for the College and its women's lacrosse program, made her the best candidate for the position," he added.

"I am overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude to be named the head women's lacrosse coach at AIC. AIC has provided me with so many opportunities both in my academic career and coaching career, and I couldn't be more thankful," Brennan said of the opportunity.

Brennan has spent each of the last two seasons as the program's lead assistant coach, working primarily with the offense. Under Brennan's leadership, the Yellow Jackets produced two of the seven best offensive seasons in program history, including 162 goals in the 2018 campaign, the third most in team history.

In all, Brennan has been a Yellow Jacket for seven years; prior to beginning her coaching career, she was a five-year member of the team, serving as captain in her redshirt junior and senior seasons of 2016 and 2017. She ranks third all-time in goals with 119 and eighth in points with 135, and was a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team selection.

Brennan earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 2016 and a master's of education in special education in 2017 from the College.
